I must have researched this ice maker the most out of any product I have bought. It does exactly what it says. The beeps when it is done is a bit annoying wish I could turn that part off. But produces ice in maybe 10 mins? It is noisy. But Ice makes lots of noise I guess. Setup was super EASY. I went though maybe 4 ice trays before I tried the cubes in my drink just to make sure it was cleaned out of plastic smell etc. It worked :) Feed my plants with the ice. Don't really have any cons except the loud beeping. I usually just end up switching it off. It does refill once you have opened the drawer and have grabbed ice out.

I bought this over a year ago. It best suits my needs to use it intermittently, filling a gallon zip bag and keeping it in the freezer until I need more. I have also used it for 8 or 10 hours straight to produce ice for parties, and it always worked fine.
The one and only issue came a few weeks ago. I like to take the ice and put it in a bag in the freezer the moment the machine drops it into the bin (it's coldest then and freezes hard almost immediately - no problem with cubes freezing together), so I work at the kitchen table while it's running. At the end of a cycle (it had been working just fine up until then), I noticed it dropped some cubes but didn't give the beep signal that indicates a complete cycle. I waited a couple of minutes and went over to look at the machine. Some of the cubes had gotten stuck in the mechanism, and it was producing a faint smell of warm machinery, not a burning smell, but warm rubber or something. I shut it off and let the stuck cubes melt off. When I turned it back on everything was fine, and continues to be fine to this time.
So be aware. I think if I had walked away from the machine it would eventually have burned out since the servo mechanism was locked with stuck ice cubes. Except for that incident the Whynter Ice Maker has worked perfectly, and continues to work perfectly - I'm making cubes at this very moment. I would happily give it more stars if not for that incident.

This ice maker is very slow, and has a tendency to stop working after a while. It needs to be shut off and restarted. I would keep looking.
