This freezer does just what it should -- keep things at around 10 below zero, according to the cheap-o thermometer I keep in it. It defrosts easily about twice a year -- I probably only take around 30 minutes to unload it, then scrape all the accumulated frost off with a wooden spoon and put it in a bucket. You wipe down the inside and plug the electric cord back in and replace the frozen goods. You don't even need really to pull out the defrost plug and let it drain, it takes such a little time.
You can use discarded wire shelving to make a storage area above the interior base, and I keep ice cubes and a few small items on a plexiglass custom-made shelf hot-glued onto four PVC legs above the compressor shelf. I keep with frozen bread under this custom shelf with the ice cubes on top. The freezer also features two removable, sliding baskets that can hold frozen dinners or other small items.
This chest freezer cost me around $225 in June 2009 from an Eastern Shore of Maryland vendor who delivered it with a separate Frigidaire commercial glass-door refrigerator, this one: 19.7 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Commercial Refrigerator - FCGM201RFB. So far it is holding up perfectly. I've never had a stand-alone chest freezer before but I am delighted with how much space it offers - that's plenty enough for a three-person household.
If you are in an area with frequent storm outages, this freezer also provides the benefit of "cruising" nicely on its existing cold until the power turns back on, and the manufacturer also claims a tiny annual running cost of around $60 or so. This makes sense as the cold air doesn't dissipate or spill out as it would with an upright freezer every time you open the door.

I've had my freezer for about 48 hours now. It has tons of space, and it keeps things frozen pretty equally. The one thing that startled me was when I first plugged it in it was quite loud. When it gets down to the right temp it's not as loud but it's something to think about. Most freezers make noises, but there is hardly any shielding on this unit to dampen it. Put it in a corner and you'll be fine.
Also, there isn't a very good storage system inside the fridge. You get two baskets at the top that slide back and forth, and there's a small seat above the coolant parts, but other than that it's just a big hole. If you have large items like turkeys or roasts they'll fit in here easily, but you will have to do some creative stacking to fill this up.
I also noticed the plug in the bottom which will make it very easy to defrost/clean, and there's a control switch on the side to adjust the temperature.
It's a great product, and I highly recommend it. I live in the middle of nowhere and I didn't want to take a 40 mile trip to the grocery store once a week, so this was perfect for me. My only complaints were the noise and the storage which really aren't that big of a problem.
